01/18/10 - St. Jude is also sending doctors and supplies to Haiti's earthquake disaster relief, as well as accepting Haitian pediatric cancer patients to their hospitals.

All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay.

When the late entertainer Danny Thomas founded St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 1962, he insisted that no child be refused treatment based on an inability to pay. Since then, more than 20,000 children from across the United States and 70 foreign countries have been treated.

St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
